Violence Prevention

Hampton Violence Interrupter Program

The Hampton Violence Interrupter Program (HVIP) is a collaborative partnership between Let Our Voices Empower and Monarch Clinical & Consulting Services. The program uses community-based violence intervention strategies where trained mentors intervene in conflicts before they escalate.

Violence interrupters are credible messengers — individuals with lived experience in community violence who have made the decision to redirect their own lives. This lived experience gives them unique credibility and trust among at-risk youth that traditional service providers cannot replicate.

The program currently serves 37 youth and their families in the City of Hampton, with an intensive 1-to-1 matching relationship for the most vulnerable participants who are most likely to shoot or be a victim in a shooting.
